If you are not too discriminative about the quality of comedy, try out the Pear Shaped Comedy Club in Fitzrovia. Pear Shaped is one of central London’s silliest comedy clubs, presenting comics, professionals and amateurs, performing acts that will make you bend to your knees with laughter. A non-competitive and friendly atmosphere defines this club; crazy acts and inventive gags render it its quality. If you are suffering mid-week stress at work, the Pear Shaped at The Fitzroy Tavern is just what you might need. Drop in every Wednesday to experience comedy at its funniest.
Pear Shaped in Fitzrovia has been running on Charlotte Street for the past 9 years. Since its start, the Pear Shaped club’s main objective has been to have fun without too much stress on quality control. So every Wednesday night, you witness comic acts of varied levels…some that are brilliant, witty and smart, others that are unashamedly silly and amateurish. Also, expect to see talented professionals perform new acts and newcomers perform old gags, and be prepared to laugh your heart out!
At the Pear Shaped comedy, all stand-ups perform 5 minute sets. The headliners at the end of first half of acts, and at the end of the evening show, are usually longer. Club doors open at 8pm, and acts begin at 8:30pm with MCs Krysstal and Brian Damage, Jimbo, and Anthony Miller who ensure you get your money’s worth of laughter. During intervals, banjo player Al Mandolino, aka Al Banjolino, fascinates with his musical talent. The interval is also a good time to go get your drinks to enjoy through rest of the show.
