Little Venice in west London is one of the most beautiful areas in London and home to one of UK’s most influential comedy clubs, the Canal Café Theatre.

Established in 1979, the Canal Café Theatre has 30 years experience entertaining audiences with alternative comedy acts. Over the years, the Canal Café Theatre has presented several amazing acts, including the League of Gentlemen, The Consultants, Pete Firman, Stewart Lee and Daniel Kitson. Both, new and professional talent is encouraged at the Canal Café which offers fantastic variety and levels of comic acts. Pre Christmas celebrations this December witness several wonderful acts at the Canal Café:

  • 9th and 10th December – Stephanie Young’s ‘Sirens’ brings to you an intense comedy about the night one finds out one’s ex is seeing someone else. Punctuated by The Crane Brother’s live music, it’s an act of sheer brilliance. Act starts 7:30pm.
  • 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th and 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, December – It’s time for NewsRevue, the longest running comedy show in London. This topical satire is comic and thought provoking. Shows start at 9pm and 9:30pm on varied days.
  • 11th and 18th December Comedy Festival presents a terrific line up with Alex Maple, Tom Webb, Helen Arney, Nathaniel Metcalfe and Henry Parker. Shows start 7:30pm.
  • Delete the Banjax and Friends sketch group hosts acts on 12th December at 7:30pm with the very talented Pippa Evans, hilarious Cardinal Burns and sketch group Broken Biscuits.
  • 13th December packs an exciting and extremely entertaining show, ‘Lights! Camera! Improvise!’ Audiences get to make up 3 movie titles, while comedians make up their trailers, epic scenes, and movie scores on the spot. Featuring the supremely talented and crazy Scat Pack improvisers, this is one show guarantee to make you roar with laughter. Show starts 7pm.
  • Test Tube Comedy featuring Andrew Lawrence, Doc Brown, Ben Target, Julian England and Barry Ferns with The Mighty House Band, it’s a laugh fest on 14th December, 7:30pm.
  • December 15th, 7:30pm, make way for The Three Englishmen sketch and musical comedy.
  • 15th and 16th December at 9:30pm, it’s a fairytale comedy show with The Night Before Christmas. Watch Gary, Simon and Cherry and the Christmas Elf in this dark, but wholly wonderful comedy.
  • 16th and 17th December at 9:30pm is the night of the Gimps. Watch the gimp based sketch group, Late Night Gimp Fight, perform this Christmas special act.
  • The Improverts play 19th and 20th December at 7pm featuring Edinburgh's resident Improv Comedy Troupe.
